October Sailing
Just updated our sailing blog and photo galleries with an October sailing report.
One of the best comments I ever got about K12converge was “I can’t tell if it’s about educational technology or sailing.” Thanks, Richard! In order to remedy this situation, I created a sailing-specific blog a couple of years ago, but normally I didn’t have time to post to it much. This year, however, now that [...]
We just heard a 1994 NPR World Cafe replay interview with Joni Mitchell in which the album Hijera was discussed, and a part of the song “Coyote” was played. Back as a teen, I remember wearng thick black and white headphones plugged into a damaged receiver amp from Goodwill and a BSR turntalbe playing the [...]
I left work and went straight to Waterloo Station on Friday, the last day before a two-week break for students and faculty. I’ll be working next week, but the second week we intend to do some Channel sailing. From Waterloo I trained to Portsmouth and took the ferry to Gosport to dine at the Haslar [...]
My son is doing a video editing activity at school, and we bought him a Canon FS 200 flash-based camcorder for the class, with the stipulation he would be the ship’s videographer when we went sailing. Whether that was a good decision or not is still to be determined… Here’s his first Jacques Cousteau style [...]
It was February break, and I worked about half of the week, but earlier this week we took off to the boat and sailed to the Isle of Wight for an overnight on the Medina River. That may sound great, but it was just a few degrees above freezing, it rained frequently, we have no [...]
Well, we didn’t make it to Paris, but we are ready for the holidays. We have a free-range turkey in the fridge and we just picked up Christmas Stolen at Borough Market. The shopping is done, and the kids are excited about the gifts under the tree. End of the year achievements include some significant [...]
We’re enjoying a Saturday morning break at Ray’s Jazz Cafe, which is inside the classic Foyle’s Bookstore in downtown London. We got up early and had breakfast at the Borough Market, walked across the Millenium Bridge, and after this we plan to visit the “Forbidden Planet” bookstore. Wife and kids are reading at the moment [...]
Okay, it’s time to get back to work. We had a great four days of sailing on the Solent over the October Break: Full photo gallery: http://www.photos.sailingvoyage.com/v/album_045/ Hokey short video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-jAm_yb59o
Hi, All This was my “clean up web presence” weekend, and in addition to revamping WordPress, and I also upgraded our family’s Photo Gallery site. Here’s a link: Sailing Voyage Images There’s over 2,400 images there from our various mis-adventures, including a large set from our recent week sailing in the San Juan Islands.
