Visiting Paris

Our week-long trip to Paris is going very well. The apartment we’ve rented is very Parisienne, and so far we’ve enjoyed visiting the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe, the Seine, the Picasso Musee, and more. I’ll post a full report when we’re done.

Happy Holidays

Happy holidays, everyone.

I just got done doing dishes, and now we’re packing for the train to Paris tomorrow morning. We had a great Christmas day, including a two hour hike on Hampstead Heath and the Xmas Dr. Who special this evening. Our last event is watching a new 30 minute Wallace and Grommet before the kids turn in.

We had a great overnight cruise on the Solent last Sunday and Monday. Here’s a video from the trip:

We had a great holiday dinner at the Folly Inn on the Isle of Wight, with an open fire and snooker, so that took some of the pressure off of cooking for today.

I’ll post again either from Paris or when we’re back in the UK.

The Full Monty

I’ll posted so little here lately, or on ISEN Ning or ISED-L. So, I asked myself why.

Basically, I’ve been too busy. Many days at work feel like a full week in one day. I’m working on so many systems at once, I’m pretty tapped out afterward, but things are coming together. Our full Finalsite build-up is coming along well, and I believe we’ll hit our second half of January roll out. I’m finishing up stake-holder meetings about student information systems and HR systems and accounting systems, and the design spec for several should be done first half of January. I plan to travel in February with a colleague to the US to visit schools and vendors. The proposals for our ECIS tech conference in March look good.

At the moment, I’m using a brand-new Samsung NC10 netbook for the first time, and it’s perhaps the best netbook I’ve used yet. My kids are doing well in school. My wife is enjoying a 40% teaching position. On Boxing day we’re taking a train to Paris for a week in an apartment for the first time. Tomorrow, we take a train to our boat and hopefully will spend a few days on the Isle of Wight and get some sailing in.

At his very moment, I’m also enjoying a nice bottle of white French wine. It’s quiet. The family is either reading or computing.

Anyway, I think this is the full monty. Happy holidays, all. For the curious, I’ve been posting pictures of our recent adventures at Sailing Voyage Photos.
